For the first time, Madhya Pradesh deployed CRPF Women police officials in Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain to maintain order during elections.
CRPF IG PK Pandey said, ‘They are performing their duties sincerely whatever task is assigned to them. This is the first time that we have deployed women force for elections in MP.’ Approximately 90 cops of DSP rank have been deployed in three cities.
Pandey also said that ‘CRPF deploys women cops when their services are sought by the local police. We will deploy more women police if there is a demand.’ An election cell has been formed to execute duties. Women personnel were first recruited by CRPF in 1986-87. Since then they have been performing duties.
‘CRPF is one of the most disciplined forces in the country. We are only performing our duties. We area doing what we are asked to maintain law and order,’ a women cop said.
Since May 2018, over 240 combatants as part of the 743 strong Bastaria battalion being raised by the CRPF to fight moist in South Bastar.
