On-the-Run, Indian diamantaire Nirav Modi’s seaside bungalow was demolished on Friday by Maharashtra Govt. using blasts. This action comes after the luxurious seaside bungalow ‘Roopanya’ in Alibaug was declared illegally built and had flouted environmental norms.
The senior IAS official had issued the demolishing orders after the Enforcement Directorate handed over the property situated in Alibaug to Maharashtra government.

The demolition work started on January 25, 2019, but because of RCC construction, it became time and money consuming. Later, engineers from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University were consulted and they suggested demolition using controlled blasting.
Nirav Modi’s mansion was seized by ED following his involvement in 13000 crores Punjab National Bank fraud case.
The accessories collected from the mansion will be up for auction. Precious seized items shall be handed over to ED, said the district collector.
