Chandigarh: On a Pilot basis Haryana is starting special buses for its female students, initially the project will commence in five districts, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed on Friday. These buses would start under the scheme of “Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana” in Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Karnal, and Kurukshetra.
Women police constable would also be deputed in every bus under this scheme to keep a vigil on anti-social elements, he said. At present, only girl students of colleges are being included under this scheme but later on, students of other institutes of higher education would also be included.
The route chart of buses will be in coordination with educational institute timings so that these buses can be used at large and girl students can feel safe while commuting. The CM instructed the departments of Education and Transport for in-sync coordination to make this scheme a success and expandable in the future.
