A man in Noida got arrested for allegedly posing as an IAS officer and asking officials to get his relative’s work done at the earliest. According to details by police, Mani Tyagi, in his late 20s called up the Noida (Rural) SP Vineet Jaiswal and said that he is an IAS officer. Police informed that Tyagi then compelled Jaiswal and asked him to get the work of an acquaintance done quickly. Tyagi was booked for fraud and related offenses and remanded in judicial custody, police said.
According to a report by PTI, the officer said that he felt something was strange. He then put Tyagi’s phone number on surveillance and it was tracked down to Ghaziabad. Reports inform that after an investigation into the matter was held, the accused was arrested by Noida Police. “At times he would say he is a district magistrate posted in Tripura and cite his batch and cadre to build pressure on police officials,” Jaiswal said.
According to the report, Tyagi told reporters that he had used the name of an IAS officer, a distant relative of his, who is currently posted in Tripura. He added saying that he had done it a few times to help people with their work but have not taken any money from anyone.
