Fake Call-Centre Operational in NCR, Busted

NOIDA: Forty-five individuals, including 20 females, were arrested on Thursday for hoodwinking customers in the name of prominent e-shopping platforms like Flipkart, Myntra through a phony call centre, informed the Police officer

The fake call centre working from Sector 6 Noida, was busted by the team of Cyber Cell as well as Knowledge park Police Station officials, informed the Police officer

“Sixteen walkie-talkies, Twenty-nine mobile phones, and two computer systems have been recovered from the spot,” said  SSP, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Vaibhav Krishna.

Informing more about the fraud, the police official said that the culprits would call up clients of shopping sites like Flipkart and Myntra after obtaining their data through fraudulent means and then offer them very unresisting schemes or cashback.

“They would then ask these buyers to remit some amount in an account to avail the benefits and several buyers would fall in the trap. The gang also used e-wallets for receiving the money and made crores by duping thousands of buyers,” informed the Police officer.

Calls were made to such naïve clients throughout the country from this phony call centre owned by Delhi-based Dileep Saroj. The owner Dilip is however absconding and Police search to nab him and his data source is underway, informed the Police officer

All the 45 arrested have been booked under area 420 (fraud) of the India Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
