Siddharth M: Forty-Six Haryana Police Services (HPS) officers have been transferred in Haryana with immediate effect on Thursday.
The move comes after the Election Commission asked the state government to move out all officers and police personnel who are either posted in their home districts or have served for more than three years at one place by February 28 before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, expected to be held in April, comes into force.
Although the transfers of HPS ranked officers are generally done by the DGP of the state but this time state government seems to have exercised this right, instead.
The appointment of Haryana Police chief is underway with UPSC yet to announce a panel which would decide on the Haryana Police Chief appointment.
Currently the Haryana state police is being headed by an officiating DGP, Mr KP Singh who is an 1985 batch IPS Officer.
